Runner-Up at Maquoketa

Runner-Up at Maquoketa

After a back-and-forth battle of sliders, Bobby had to settle for a runner-up finish Saturday night at Maquoketa (IA) Speedway. After starting fourth, he quickly jumped to second and followed the leader on the top side of the track lap after lap as they both maneuvered through lapped traffic. With four laps remaining, Bobby took the lead, but before the lap could be counted, a caution came out relegating him back to second. “Heck of a race, exchanged a lot of sliders,” Bobby said. “Was so close to picking up the first win of 2020 yet again. Maquoketa turned out to be a racy place. Track #120 for me.” — Mike Ruefer Photo

17th to 2nd in Stream Invitational at Eldora!

17th to 2nd in Stream Invitational at Eldora!

Bobby rallied from his 17th starting position to score a runner-up finish on Saturday night in the inaugural Dirt Late Model Stream Invitational at Eldora (OH) Speedway. He had to take a provisional to get into the main event after suffering mechanical failure while leading his heat race. The race was shorter (67 laps) than a normal crown jewel race at Eldora, so Bobby needed to get to the front in a hurry…and he did. He was in the top ten by lap 17, top five on lap 22, and moved into second on lap 38. “Heck of a race!” Bobby said. “I really didn’t think (McCreadie) was gonna come from nowhere. I didn’t watch my dad the last five laps with the (signaling) sticks and then all of the sudden I seen a car there and I was like, ‘Well.’ I mean, there’s nothing I could do anyway ‘cause that wasn’t the line I was running. Honestly, I was hoping there was a caution and I could have a chance like we did on that restart to do something with Brandon (Sheppard) because (otherwise) I couldn’t with the air. The racetrack was really good…to provide racing like that. There’s nothing like Eldora Speedway. That’s why I love coming here. Big thanks to all my family, crew, sponsors, and the fans.” — Zach Yost Photo

Two Top-Ten Finishes in World of Outlaws Events at Davenport

Two Top-Ten Finishes in World of Outlaws Events at Davenport

Bobby picked up two top ten finishes over the weekend in World of Outlaws events at Davenport (IA) Speedway. On Friday night, Bobby set the new track record at the quarter-mile oval and followed that up by winning his heat race. He then drew the number one spot in the redraw to start on the pole of the 30-lap race. He set the pace early as he led the first 11 laps but faded to an eighth-place finish. On Saturday, Bobby again was the fast qualifier in his group, but this time on the half-mile. He won his heat race and drew a three for the 40-lap feature. He ran second most of the race until damage to the spoiler resulted in a very loose car as he fell back to sixth at the finish. — Mike Ruefer Photo

Out of Quarantine with Ninth Place Finish at I-55; Second in Modified

Bobby returned to racing for the first time since early February on Saturday night at I-55 (MO) Raceway. He started 10th in the 50-lap feature and was battling for third in the first half of the race before the track started to take rubber. He got hung out in the middle groove on a late restart and was shuffled back to ninth at the finish. Bobby also brought along his Modified and was a close second in the 25-lap feature. — Rich LaBrier Photo

Bobby in New “Lady Driver” Movie

Bobby in New “Lady Driver” Movie

You can now add actor to Bobby’s resume as he is in the new Netflix movie “Lady Driver”. The racing-themed movie centers around a rebellious teen who searches for her unknown roots which leads her to the sport of dirt track racing and a discovery she didn’t expect. “They did a great job,” Bobby said. “Ali Afshar and Christina Moore, the producers, I got to meet them when I was out there in October 2017. They asked me some things, advice on how to make it feel more like a dirt track movie. It was really cool to see how they filmed everything. Once in a lifetime experience for sure. I met most of the actors and actresses. I hung out with them; it was cool. They were just as excited to learn about my world as I was excited to learn about theirs. It’s pretty cool to be in a movie. I never knew I’d be on Netflix in my life. I would have never imagined it. It’s great for dirt track racing in general. Big thanks to Forrest Lucas, ESX Entertainment, and Lucas Oil for letting me be a part of the movie.”

Third at Wild West Shootout Sunday

Third at Wild West Shootout Sunday

Running as high as second, Bobby scored his first top five of the season with a third place run Sunday night in the second round of the Wild West Shootout in Arizona. Starting fourth in the 40-lap main event, he ran around the top five in the first half of the race before jumping to the top and mounting a late-race charge to grab second on lap 23. From there, it was a three-car battle for the win as they diced through the lapped traffic. “It was a heckuva race there. I thought I might have something for Brandon (Sheppard) and I knew it was a matter of time before he moved up to the top where I was running,” said Bobby. “Then I had to change my line in turn three — I think I got a little bit quicker — and then just a little bit after that the rubber came. My tires were both killed after the race. I was driving it in hard trying to try and make up the ground from being behind early in the race.” — Photo Finish Photo
