Back-to-Back $30,000 Gateway Dirt Nationals Winner!!

Bobby backed up his Gateway victory in 2017 with a dominating win Saturday night inside The Dome at America’s Center. Starting on the pole, he led all 40 laps as he cashed in on a $30,000 payday. “This feels amazing to go back to back,” Bobby said. “Man I was pretty wore out after that race. That was kinda like riding a bull there. But man we got it done. I’m glad to win it again.” — Josh James Photo

Taking the lead on the eighth lap, Bobby stayed in front the rest of the way to pick up the $5,000 preliminary feature win Friday night inside The Dome at America’s Center (MO). “It was a heck of a race those first five to 10 laps,” Bobby said. “The track was actually awesome. I know no one likes to drive on a rough track, but for the top to keep up with the bottom, I hate to say it almost has to be like that I think.” — Heath Lawson Photo

Bobby started 17th in the sport’s most prestigious event, the World 100, Saturday night at Eldora (OH) Speedway. He was up to eighth in his Joker-themed ride when the first caution came out on lap 36. By halfway, he was running sixth, but then began to fall back outside the top ten due to a tire going down and went pitside when the second yellow of the race appeared on lap 83. He received two fresh tires and rejoined the field at the back. He was able to move up to 14th at the finish. — Heath Lawson Photo

Bobby Back to Family Team

Bobby Back to Family Team

Bobby will return to his family team full-time after the final Lucas Oil Series race of the season, the Dirt Track World Championship. With the support of Bobby’s primary sponsors, Hoker Trucking, Allgayer Inc., Premier Waste Services, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Carnaghi Towing, Budda, Berger’s Marina, Champion Spark Plugs, Airplus, Queen City Appraisals, and others that are still in negotiations, and along with all the sponsors and product support from all the wonderful companies that help Bobby get on the track and do what he loves, he and his family are excited to be back to getting prepared to race like they’ve been accustomed to for many years out of their shop in Oakwood, IL. With the help and support of his great sponsors, Bobby has a new truck and trailer on order and is currently putting together a team. Bobby and his family feel that they can put together all the pieces of the pie that should make for a dominant team in 2019 and are so excited for the upcoming season. They are unsure of a schedule at this time or if they plan to follow a series. Bobby and his family would like to thank Dunn Benson Motorsports for the opportunity they gave Bobby and to wish them the best.

“Big thanks to Kemp Lamm & DBM for believing in me to win them a Lucas Oil Series championship,” Bobby said. “We showed everyone we could win some of the biggest races and compete for a points title. And a big thanks and much credit to Danny, Kent, Richard, Wayne, and of course my dad, who all worked very hard this year and believed in me, allowing my job to be a little bit easier with mainly putting my focus into driving the car. I’d like to thank the whole Lamm family for what they do. I would also like to thank all the sponsors this year who supported us! I decided that I would like to go back to my own deal next year racing our Rocket cars. Once again having everything at my shop close to home and to be able to work on the cars without being gone from home will be nice, and to race where I want more closer to home at times. I want to let everyone know it’s not a big fallout of the team or anything, and maybe in the future I would be interested again if the option is open. Also, I’d like to give a big thank you to all my sponsors and supporters which allow me to make this decision of going back to my own team. I’m not exactly sure what my plans are for next year. It’s been fun getting to all the different tracks this year while racing on the Lucas Series and realizing I have some new favorite tracks and have made some new friends along the way.”

$20,000 Pittsburgher 100 Winner!

$20,000 Pittsburgher 100 Winner!

Another big race, another incredible rally. After pitting on lap 44 of the 100-lap Pittsburgher 100 Sunday afternoon at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, Bobby charged through the field to the lead with 10 laps remaining and drove away for his second $20,000 victory in the last two weeks. He started 10th in his first-ever appearance at the half-mile Pennsylvania track but fell back through the field and was around 20th when he decided to pull in for a new right-rear tire. Along with learning the new track in the first half of the race, and the new tire, the car came to life. He was inside the top 10 by lap 53 and reached the top five on lap 66. By lap 78, he was in third, nearly a straightaway behind the top two. In less than 10 laps he erased that deficit and was within striking distance to grab the win when a caution came out on lap 88. He put his car along the wall through turn four and followed the leader closely and then made his winning move when he dove underneath Owens down the straightaway and slid in front of him entering turn one to take over the lead on lap 91. “I am so out of breath right now,” Bobby said in victory lane. “It was really nerve-racking out there. I was just trying to keep it out of the guardrail. I am speechless right now. We were so close at I-80, the Dirt Million, and Knoxville, but to win another big race after Brownstown is great. I want to thank my family and crew.” — Heath Lawson Photo

From 19th, Bobby Wins $20,000 Jackson 100, Scores 100th Career Super Late Model Victory!

Finally! With all the bad luck that Bobby and his team have endured this season, Sunday afternoon it all came together for a much-needed victory in the 39th Annual Jackson 100 at Brownstown (IN) Speedway. Like he has countless times this season, Bobby had to rally from the back of the field (19th). Running the bottom of the track, he took the lead for the first time on lap 73. He stayed in front for four laps before falling back to second but he stayed close to the leader. Coming out of the fourth turn and seeing the white flag, Bobby edged ahead of the leader and held on to capture the $20,000 victory, his third Lucas Oil Series triumph of the season. With the win, Bobby has now reached 100 career Super Late Model victories. “Wow, out of all of the places to win my first big race of the season, I didn’t think it would happen here at Brownstown,” Bobby said. “You have to stay so focused here. It gets really slick. Thanks to all the fans for coming. I don’t know what to say, my emotions have taken over. It’s been a long year. We have been so close to getting some big wins, to finally get it feels really good.” — Heath Lawson Photo

Late-Race Spin Thwarts Knoxville Nationals Rally

Late-Race Spin Thwarts Knoxville Nationals Rally

It’s always exciting when Bobby has to rally from the back. Just as he did in the Dirt Million, Bobby charged from his 22nd starting position to the lead only to fall just short at the finish. Moving quickly through the field, he was inside the top ten by lap 30. At the halfway point of the 100-lap crown jewel race he was in second hounding the race leader for the top spot. A treacherous cushion hindered Bobby’s momentum which allowed Sheppard and Bloomquist to join the battle. Finally breaking free with 25 laps to go, Bobby turned up the wick and closed the gap between himself and race leader Owens. He caught the leader with 20 laps to go and briefly shot into the lead with a slider but he jumped the cushion allowing Owens to reclaim the point. O’Neal got by for second and with 12 laps to go O’Neal checked up exiting turn four as Bobby was following close behind him. They touched and Bobby spun. Having to restart outside the top ten, Bobby was able to come back to seventh at the checkers. “More experience here is what I needed,” Bobby said. “We’ll get em next time. I wanna start 22nd everywhere,” Bobby joked. — Heath Lawson Photo

Riding along with the Joker again, Bobby rallied from his 13th starting position to finish sixth in the World 100 preliminary feature opener Friday morning at Eldora (OH) Speedway. Bobby moved up from his 11th starting spot to pick up a top five finish in Lucas Oil Series action Saturday night at Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park.

22nd to 2nd at Dirt Million

22nd to 2nd at Dirt Million

Bobby put on another exciting show for his fans Saturday night in the inaugural “Dirt Million” at Mansfield (OH) Motor Speedway as he charged from his 22nd starting position to finish runner-up and earn a $40,588 payday. He was on the move from the start as he made his way up to fourth by lap 25. He battled within the top five until lap 83 when he took command and looked to be on his way to his biggest paying win until the caution flag flew on lap 89 bunching up the field. After going back green, Bobby and Pearson ran side-by-side until Bobby fell back to second on lap 92. He wasn’t ready to concede the loss just yet though as he drove his heart out on the cushion trying to grab the lead back but couldn’t get close enough at the finish. “That was such a fun race. … I didn’t need that last caution,” Bobby said. “I don’t know how big of a lead I had. I know my dad was signaling I had a pretty big lead. I guess Earl (Pearson) came in and put some new tires on and it definitely showed to work pretty good there, because I was kind of hanging on. It’s a big money difference, but still $40,000, I’ll take it.” — Heath Lawson Photo
