Bobby Strikes Early to Win at Independence

Apr 28, 2026

Bobby picked up another World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory Tuesday night at Independence (IA) Motor Speedway, capturing the $12,000-to-win 40-lap main event.

Starting fourth, Bobby positioned himself near the front early before making the race-winning move following a restart on lap seven.

Lining up second on the bottom, he got a strong launch when the green flag waved and capitalized on a slight slip by the leader entering turn one. With momentum on his side, Bobby drove to the inside and slid in front exiting the corner to take over the top spot.

“It was unexpected, that’s for sure,” Bobby said of the pass. “I noticed he slipped just a little bit in turn one on the top. I had a good run coming off of four on the restart. There was a lot of moisture down there at the bottom of one still, and I was able to get some grip and slingshot ahead of him.”

Once out front, Bobby settled into a rhythm.

“I was expecting to see him on my inside into turn three, but luckily I pulled away down the backstretch,” he said. “From then on, it was just hit my marks lap after lap on those restarts and try to get through lap traffic as best I could.”

Despite several cautions throughout the race, Bobby maintained control and kept challengers at bay. He built his advantage to as much as 1.5 seconds before ultimately crossing the line 1.2 seconds ahead of the field.

“Luckily, I didn’t really have to mess with lap traffic too much as the cautions kept coming out,” he added. “It was an awesome night for us. This car was awesome.”

The win marked Bobby’s 48th career World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory, tying him for fourth on the tour’s all-time wins list.
