Bobby charged to victory Friday night at Magnolia (MS) Motor Speedway, capturing the $12,000-to-win World of Outlaws Late Model Series event during the Duel at the Mag.
Starting sixth in the 40-lap main event, Bobby methodically worked his way forward in the early stages. By lap 11, he powered into second down the backstretch and immediately began closing in on the race leader.
A caution with 29 laps remaining briefly slowed his momentum, as Bobby lost second on the restart before quickly regrouping. He reclaimed the runner-up spot on lap 15 and set his sights on the leader, who held roughly a two-second advantage at the time.
Continuing to chip away at the deficit, Bobby completed the pass for the lead on lap 25 and never looked back.
Another caution on lap 30 erased his 2.6-second advantage, but Bobby remained in control on the restart. Navigating a challenging, ever-evolving surface, he pulled away once again, stretching his lead to more than three seconds before ultimately crossing the line 2.6 seconds ahead of the field.
“I didn’t know the Outlaws have never been here before. That’s a cool piece of history there to be part of,” Bobby said in victory lane.
The race track proved to be one of the biggest challenges of the night, as developing ruts created a demanding and unpredictable surface for drivers.
“I’m wore out from that race,” he said. “The track formed those dirt bike ruts, and the tires would sit in it, and you never know if it was going to take you or not. You had to be up on the wheel constantly, but it was a fun race track. They gave us a good track with a top, middle, and bottom, and we were able to come up through there and get the win.”
Bobby credited the team’s adjustments throughout the weekend for putting him in position to contend.
“We were working really hard on the car yesterday and today,” he said. “Every time we were in the pits, we were making quite a bit of changes trying to dial it in, and we definitely got better. Once those ruts formed, it was about hitting them just right. You could easily have a lap that was five tenths better if you hit them right.”
The win marks Bobby’s second consecutive World of Outlaws triumph, continuing to build momentum as the season rolls on.
