Bobby Holds Off Late Charge to Defend Bobik Memorial Title at Marion Center

May 27, 2026

Bobby defended his Bobik Memorial title Wednesday night at Marion Center (PA) Raceway, holding off a late charge to win the $30,000 World of Outlaws Late Model Series event in thrilling fashion.

Starting from the outside of the front row, Bobby immediately used the momentum around the top side to surge into the lead on the opening lap, pulling ahead down the backstretch.

The early stages featured an intense battle at the front, as the second- and third-place cars remained within striking distance while Bobby worked to maintain control. Navigating heavy lapped traffic only added to the challenge, allowing the pressure from behind to intensify.

The battle for the lead boiled over on lap 24.

Entering turn three, the second-place driver slid in front of Bobby and briefly grabbed the top spot, but Bobby quickly answered back with a crossover move to reclaim the lead. One lap later, the pair traded sliders again in another crowd-pleasing exchange before Bobby finally gained some breathing room.

By lap 27, Bobby stretched his advantage to roughly a second while continuing to slice through slower traffic.

A string of cautions from laps 33 through 37 repeatedly reset the field, but Bobby remained in command on each restart. Following another strong restart, he built his lead to 1.5 seconds by lap 51 before yet another caution with four laps remaining set up a dramatic sprint to the finish.

Over the closing laps, the battle intensified once more.

While Bobby committed to the middle groove, the second-place challenger ripped the extreme top side and generated huge momentum entering the corners. With two laps to go, the challenger surged alongside Bobby down the backstretch, and the two raced side-by-side coming to the white flag.

On the final lap, the same scenario unfolded again as the outside lane generated another massive run entering turn three. This time, however, Bobby shut the door on the slider attempt and held on to secure the victory.

“It’s tough when you’re in the lead, especially when you’ve got Hudson behind you,” Bobby said in Victory Lane. “He’s a heck of a wheel man. He was hitting the top of one and two and getting a lot of gains on me off the corner. I was blocking him every time into three. Coming to the white flag, I saw him under me into three, and thanks to him for racing me clean.”

Bobby said changing track conditions throughout the race made the final laps especially challenging.

“When I got really clean air on that one restart before the last one, I felt like I pulled away from second and could run my own race,” he said. “But once I caught lap traffic, those guys were running really low and kicking a lot of crumbs up into the middle. I felt like that’s what got the top of one and two going again.”

The victory marked Bobby’s second consecutive Bobik Memorial triumph and continued the momentum from his Show-Me 100 crown jewel victory just days earlier.
