Bobby powered his way to victory Friday night at Hendry County (FL) Motorsports Park, capturing the opening night of the Swamp Cabbage 100 and earning his 43rd career World of Outlaws Late Model Series triumph.
Bobby started third in the $12,000-to-win, 40-lap main event and quickly established himself as the car to beat. While running fourth early, he made the high side come alive, charging to the front by lap nine as the only driver consistently committed to the top groove at that point.
Once out front, Bobby put on a clinic.
Mastering the challenging surface, he steadily pulled away from the field and built a commanding advantage of more than six seconds by lap 34. A late caution with just five laps remaining erased his comfortable lead and brought the field back to his rear bumper, but Bobby remained composed when it mattered most.
He hit his marks over the final circuits and never relinquished the top spot, driving away to secure the victory.
“I didn’t know I had that big of a lead, but you start thinking of that stuff towards the end of the race,” Bobby said. “It’s like, man, haven’t had one caution this whole thing. It’s going to be pretty wild if it goes caution free, and then there was a caution. I was really nervous on the restart, but luckily, I got a good exit off of two. From there on, it was just hit my marks, don’t jump the cushion.”
As the track surface continued to evolve throughout the race, Bobby relied on precision and patience to maintain control.
“It got to the point where you had to get up on it to really get any traction because it got a black slick lane below it,” he added. “Pretty hard track to drive, but a fun track, fun event. Huge thanks to these guys for putting this on. It was awesome to come to a new track and win it.”
The victory marked Bobby’s 43rd career World of Outlaws Late Model Series win, moving him into sole possession of fifth place on the tour’s all-time wins list.
“I’ve got to give a huge thanks to my guys,” Bobby said. “If it wasn’t for their hard work, we couldn’t be here doing what we’re doing. Huge thanks to all of them.”
