Starting from the outside of the front row Friday night at 34 (IA) Raceway, Bobby wasted little time charging to the front of the field. Taking the lead on the fourth lap, he stayed out front for the remainder of the 40-lap race to claim the MARS-sanctioned $5,000 Slocum Prelude.
“I think the car was much more comfortable just letting it momentum up there (in the high groove),” Bobby said. “(In turns one and two), I wasn’t terrible, but in turn three there was a slimy spot that — I don’t know if I was just too tight or if I was hitting that slimy spot — but I could not get turned.”
At times, Bobby tried to move down to the bottom groove, but his advantage over second place would shrink. Once he returned to the high side, he quickly pulled away again, using the momentum up top to extend his lead and stay in control of the race.
