Bobby turned back the clock Wednesday night at Eldora (OH) Speedway, driving a retro-themed paint scheme inspired by his father Bob’s 1995 car — and parked it in victory lane. Bobby stormed from sixth to first to claim the $20,000 prize in the 50-lap FloRacing Night in America feature.
After settling into second with 42 laps to go, a caution bunched the field and briefly knocked Bobby back to fourth on the restart. But it didn’t take long for the “Smooth Operator” to regroup. He quickly climbed back to second and, with 25 laps remaining, made the move for the lead — one he wouldn’t relinquish.
Even with a 2.8-second lead erased by a late caution with three laps to go, Bobby remained composed and clicked off three flawless laps, securing yet another win at the famed Eldora half-mile.
“We were good tonight,” Bobby said in victory lane. “The car could really go middle, go top. I made a lot of moves through the middle and kind of them rutty spots. I was nervous when that caution came out, because I knew my spoiler was messed up and I saw McDowell was up to third and had flashbacks of the World 100 when he passed me at the end, but we got him back. It was a fun race tonight.”
