Bobby tiptoed along a thin line on the top side of the track and held off Thornton as they navigated through lapped traffic, leading flag-to-flag to secure the $15,000 MARS “Nippy 50” sweep Saturday night at Maquoketa (IA) Speedway.
“I had a good car tonight,” Bobby said. “I fell off in qualifying, but luckily, I never fell off when it counted. Tonight was more nerve-wracking than last night. We had a car behind us, close to us, within striking distance almost the whole race, I felt like. The lapped cars were tough. You get into lapped traffic, and you don’t know where to go sometimes—that’s how you lose races. Luckily, we held on.”
