Bobby fell just short of a three-peat in the annual Illini 100 on Saturday night at Farmer City (IL) Raceway. He started seventh in the 60-lap race and methodically worked his way toward the front through heavy lapped traffic. By lap 42, he had moved into second place but was over three seconds behind the leader. He cut that deficit to 1.4 seconds at the finish in a race that saw only one caution.
“I really love racing here—it’s such an up-on-the-wheel track,” Bobby said. “When I saw Brandon (Sheppard) catching lapped cars, I thought I was going to have a chance at catching him. But right when I saw him get to those lap cars, he went right through them like a hot knife through butter. That was my only chance.”
