Bobby Charges from the Back to Runner-Up in $100,000 Dream at Eldora

Jun 7, 2025

Bobby fell just short of claiming his first Dream trophy on Saturday night at Eldora (OH) Speedway, but he delivered one of the race’s most electrifying performances with a relentless charge from deep in the field to a $30,000 runner-up finish.

Starting ninth in the 100-lap, $100,000-to-win crown jewel event, Bobby steadily moved forward early, running as high as third with 59 laps to go. Four laps later, he powered into second down the backstretch and appeared poised to contend for the lead — until a flat tire on lap 47 forced him to the pits and dropped him to 17th.

Undeterred, Bobby came back with a vengeance. After rejoining the field, the “Smooth Operator” lit up the speed charts as the fastest car on track. With 50 laps to go, he began slicing through the pack, climbing back into the top ten with 33 circuits remaining. He cracked the top five with 11 to go, then moved into second just three laps later — hoping for a caution that never came.

“It’s honestly a blessing the tire went flat because I knew I was probably killing them,” Bobby said. “There was a caution with about 60 some laps to go, and I was debating pulling in to change tires. I didn’t want to give up spots, but when they do that track prep and the surface is so hard, it gets those little sharp pieces of dirt and just kills a tire. I couldn’t get going early, had to jump up top and burn the line in — but of course, that’s what hurts your tires. All in all, awesome rebound for us tonight. Can’t thank my crew enough. They did a good job on the pit stop.”
