Bobby kicked off his 2025 season on Saturday night at Vado (NM) Speedway Park in the opener of the Wild West Shootout. Starting third in the 50-lap feature, he ran in second until making his move for the top spot following a restart on lap 30. “I thought it was time to go earlier in the race,” Bobby said. “On one of the restarts, I chose the bottom and really charged hard on him (Alberson). I was trying to get the lead early so I could set my pace and hold onto the front.”
Bobby surged into the lead on the 30th circuit and never looked back, capturing the $25,000 top prize. “I hated seeing that caution (on lap 29) right when we caught the lapped cars again,” Bobby said. “I was like, ‘Well, you know, 21 to go, we have to go now.’ I was worried about which lane to pick, and when we went down the straightaway, even Dillard was right there with us. We were almost three-wide. At the last second, Alberson dipped to the bottom and then gassed it back to the top. Luckily, I had a heck of a corner, the car hooked up right there in the apex, and I got a good launch. From that point, it was just about hanging on to the lead, not doing anything stupid, hitting my marks, and trying to maintain a good gap. It’s pretty nerve-wracking when the second-place car is catching you while you’re struggling.”
