Bobby grabbed the lead on lap 24 and remained in control for the rest of the 40-lap race, capturing the $10,000 MARS Series “Nippy 50” prelim Friday night at Maquoketa (IA) Speedway.
“We got lucky holding on to that one,” Bobby said. “I almost lost it there at the end. I hit that hole—there was a pretty big hole forming—and depending on how you hit it, your car would bounce one way or the other. I bottomed out in it badly on that last lap, I think because I drove too cautiously. That messed me up, and my right-side tires were hanging over the edge.
