Bobby cashed in on a $30,000 payday Saturday night in the Hawkeye 100 at Boone (IA) Speedway. Taking the lead on the 30th lap, he led the rest of the 100-lap distance to score his second big-money victory of the season. “This is awesome,” Bobby said. “Thirty grand and another World of Outlaws win.” While running fifth on lap 20, Bobby anticipated the track would soon lock down so he made his move to the front. “I felt it take a little bit of rubber off two early on,” explained Bobby. “Right then, I knew if we were gonna get it, we had to get it right then.” Once out front, he was able to navigate through traffic and hold on for the win. Bobby has been successful in his career in longer distance races, and Saturday night’s 100-lap triumph followed up his 75-lap win in April. “I’ve always liked the longer races, it gives me time to figure out the racetrack,” Bobby said. “There’s something about the 100-lap races because it gives me time to work.” — Jacy Norgaard Photo
