Taking advantage when the leader bobbled out of turn two on the 35th lap, Bobby grabbed the lead away and controlled the rest of the 40-lapper for his sixth tour victory in the first 11 starts and a $5,000 payday Wednesday night at Belle-Clair. Having a 150-point advantage entering the night, he extended his lead in pursuit of a second straight Summer Nationals title. “I was just kind of being patient, waiting for him to hopefully do that,” Pierce said, “and right when he did that, at the same time I had a heckuva run, and I just decided to take it right there, and luckily it paid off.” — Jim DenHamer Photo
