Eighth Runner-Up of Season After Second at Florence

florence may31Bobby recorded his eighth runner-up finish of the season Wednesday night in the FloRacing Night in America race at Florence (KY) Speedway. He started outside of the front row in the 50-lap main event and jumped out to the lead at the start. He stayed in the top spot for the first 43 laps building up a lead of over two seconds. With seven laps to go, Bobby slipped off the cushion and tagged the wall. This allowed Thornton to close the gap in a hurry. Bobby was unable to regain the lead and had to settle for another second-place finish. “The cautions really hurt me at the end. I think I abused (my right-rear tire) throughout the race,” Bobby said. “I made that little bobble (on lap 32) but I pulled back away. Then I made that really big bobble down there (on lap 43). We got into those slider battles, that was a lot of fun. All in all, a great night. We’ll take this and move on.” Bobby’s recent hot streak rolls on as he now has eight top five finishes in the last nine races with a worse finish of sixth.
