19th to 6th at Illini 100 / 3rd Sunday

farmer city apr2Rallying from the 19th starting position, Bobby improved 13 spots in the 75-lap caution-free race to finish sixth in the annual running of the Illini 100 Saturday night at Farmer City. In Sunday's finale, Bobby started outside the front row and fell back to third early before catching the lead duo and engaged in a spirited three-wide battle for the top spot. He briefly took the lead on the 21st lap, only to be shuffled back to third a lap later when he slipped off the banking as he battled for the lead. “It was a fun race, I just wish it went the other way,” said Pierce. “It was a really good race between all of us.” -- Jim DenHamer Photo
