$12,000 Macon Winner!

macon apr28A little home cooking was just the shot in the arm Bobby and his team needed. A night after leading all 50 laps to score his first Lucas Oil Series victory of the season at Tri-City, Bobby went back-to-back Saturday night at Macon as he led 99 of the 100 laps to pocket another $12,000 payday. “Man, I’m really glad to be back home racing,” Bobby said. “I keep saying tracks I know compared to tracks I don’t know, but I think it’s just … you gotta have laps at these places when you compete with these (Lucas Oil) guys to the point where it just kind of comes natural. All these other places I go to (new tracks), it’s just such a learning curve that just nothing really feels very natural like this.”

Nothing is ever easy at the fifth-mile bullring though as Bobby had to maneuver his way through heavy lapped traffic and hold off a late race charge from Ryan Unzicker, who was piloting a car built by his dad, to pick up his third Lucas Oil Series win in the last five years at Macon. “Heading into the weekend I didn’t think I would win two races," Bobby said. "I got a little nervous there in traffic and then I hit the wall coming out of turn four. Man, I am glad to be back home. You have got to have laps at these tracks and fortunately the last two nights that was the case. Just glad to get these wins, thanks to all my crew, family, and sponsors." -- Heath Lawson Photo
