Incredible Rally in Prairie Dirt Shootout Highlights PDC Weekend at Fairbury

fairbury jul28Bobby's motto from the very beginning of his racing career has always been "refuse to lose". This never give up attitude was on full display Saturday night at Fairbury. After failing to advance to the Prairie Dirt Classic in his heat and last chance races, he had one more opportunity in the 25-lap non-qualifier Prairie Dirt Shootout with the winner given the last spot in the feature field. In order to win this race though he would have to put on a show for the packed house at FALS as he rolled off in the 16th starting position...and that is exactly what he did. Bobby rode the treacherous cushion, his car bouncing lap after lap, hitting the wall numerous times, as he reached the top ten by the seventh lap. By the 13th lap he was in fifth and was not done yet. Three laps later he took fourth, and by lap 18 he was in third. With six laps left he took the runner-up spot. Time was running out as he caught the race leader with three laps to go. A caution came out moments later to give him one last shot. The crowd was in a frenzy as he surged into the lead with two laps to go and held on to score the incredible win. “Man,” Bobby said. “I’ve had so much bad luck lately, I just have to give a huge thanks to everybody for staying behind me. We’ve been behind the eight-ball so much the last two races.” -- Rick Neff Photo
